Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):
What are your rates and how do you accept payment?
Our rates range from $150 to $200 per hour, depending on the tutor’s experience level. MD/PhD tutors with over 10 years of tutoring experience typically charge $200 per hour.
Should I sign up for organic chemistry if I don’t feel ready?
Ideally, you want to take organic chemistry once and do well the first time. If you don’t feel prepared, it’s usually best to wait before enrolling. However, if you must take the class and don’t feel ready, make sure you get support early. Our Jumpstart Organic Chemistry Series (about 10 sessions) walks you through the entire Organic Chemistry I curriculum and is designed for students who are not yet enrolled but want a strong foundation.
How do you accept payment?
We currently accept Venmo (@zoomorgo), Zelle (zoomorgo@gmail.com), and PayPal.
Why get organic chemistry tutoring from you and not from somewhere else online?
We’re professional chemistry tutors who specialize exclusively in chemistry. Many of our tutors studied chemistry at the doctoral level, served as university TAs, or are currently in MD or PhD programs. While there are many good online tutors, there are also many unreliable services—our team offers proven expertise, consistency, and a track record of student success.
What days and times do you have available for tutoring?
Currently we have availability by appointment, and you will need to check in with your tutor. Email us or go to “Schedule a Session” to check in.
Where do you meet students for tutoring?
All tutoring is done online. After each session, the student will receive a copy of the notes (PDF) via email.
How long does one session last?
On average sessions last between 1-2 hours (usually 1 hour is the most common). Any longer than that and usefulness starts to taper off.
How often should we meet?
It depends on your goals and timeline. Most students meet once or twice per week, which is enough to stay on track and build confidence. During busy periods, like the week before an exam, meeting three times per week can be helpful.
What classes can you tutor?
Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, General Chemistry. Some tutors may have additional offerings upon request.
Do I need to prepare for our meetings?
You don’t need to prepare anything for our sessions, but it’s helpful to send your tutor any relevant materials or a brief note about what you’d like to work on. This can include discussion worksheets, practice problems, study guides, or practice tests. Sharing these in advance helps your tutor tailor the session to your needs.
